More Photoshop fun

I decided to try tweaking a few of the race photos from this last round, using the “gritty” filtering system I set up in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Click on photos to enlarge.

is this a native lightroom filter or did you buy a 3rd party add on for additional filters?

Hi Andy – It was a technique I found in PC Photo magazine, in an article about producing HDR-type effects. Apparently the idea originated from Scott Kelby’s blog. It involves some pretty simple adjustments in the Develop module in Lightroom.

very cool. I like how the colors are so saturated, it makes it look more cartoonish or like a painting. I’ll have to do a little more experimenting myself in Lightroom. Btw, do you use Mac or PC?

    Thanks, I’m using PC.

Basic settings for that effect in Lightroom are:
    Recovery-100
    Fill light-100
    Contrast-100
    Clarity-100
    Vibrance-100

Then move the Blacks slider to the right until the milky effect caused by the fill light slider is balanced out.

Then experiment with the Saturation and Exposure sliders until you get the effect you want.
